Sugar Sheets

I'd like to start this post by saying that I try not to pay too much attention to the number of followers that I have, but it's hard not to notice when those numbers move.  It's hard not to wonder why I might lose followers when it happens.  Well, last night I lost a couple and I can only imagine they were 49ers fans.  I'm Sorry.  I did not mean to offend anyone with the cake I posted at the end of yesterday's post.  It was all done tongue-in-cheek and it was a great game.  And the cake was a huge hit in real life.

I've shared how to make fondant here.  And the heavily NY biased crowd at the party we attended appreciated my depiction of a Justin Tuck sack.  But they also were impressed with the Giants logos adorning the sides of the cake.

It all started with a new to me Wilton product - Sugar Sheets.

I printed out multiple logos.

And used a clean exacto knife to cut out the letters.

They just pressed into the icing and stuck.

Thanks for popping in and trying out a new product with me.  I'm linking this up to Something Swanky's Sweet Treats Thursdays.

  1. Oh good grief! If someone gets offended over a football game, there's a problem! Your cake was adorable! And I'm not saying that as a former New Yorker- I promise. :)
We're supposed to be teaching our children sportsmanship. Both teams played well and the Superbowl will be amazing. That being said......
    GO GIANTS!!!!! :) :) :)

  2. I know I lost a follower over posting notice of a giveaway on a Pagan blog.
I believe in being tolerant of others' beliefs and freedom of speech.
And a chance to win cash and prizes is something I choose to share.
You happened to express your football fanaticism in a creative way. Maybe a bit warped, but that is part of the game of football. Those guys get paid well to take the risks. When I first saw this (and I did NOT watch the game) I thought your Giant was mooning the crowd! Still, I was not offended.

  3. I agree with Allie and Pattie - someone has way to much time to analize things and think you're probably better off if they're gone. Don't worry, others will come along. This is a wonderful site and you've always got something good going on!

  4. What a silly reason to quit following you. And I'm a HUGE football fan, but that wouldn't make me stop following someone. Silly.

  5. Girl I just found your blog. and I think it's funny the Superbowl is in my town and I say GO NY that's who we are all cheering for, SO I say I'm your newest follower
and I would make that cake even BIGGER for the next game... Sore losers.. It's really to bad how people act.... again GO NEW YORK.....

  6. I thought your cake was great! (And I'm a 49ers fan, being from that area and all) The sugar sheet logos were very well done and the figures and pose on the cake was very entertaining. Well done!

  7. Nothing could ever make me quit following your blog! :) I can't believe anyone would do that just because of something like that!
Love your did a great job!
Here's to a great week ahead, sweet friend!

  8. Giants fans in my house would love a cake like that. Can you send one over for Superbowl Sunday? No worries! We love you. Jane

  9. WOW, if that is a reason to un-follow someone..that is ridiculous! I lose followers every day, people have their own rhyme or reason and I do not put much thought into anymore. I usually convince myself, they hate happy creative people:) Have a great day girl, your cake was awesome.

  10. I love this cake!! And don't forget, just like the song says, people are crazy!!
I'd love if you would drop by and link up to my Super Bowl Eats and Treats Party!

Love to see you there! Thanks!!!
