Coat Closet Organizing

There's something about the new year that makes us all want to organize our homes.  The calendar rolls to January, the Christmas decorations get put away, and we just want to go out and buy pretty matching baskets and bins for all of our closets.  Unfortunately Christmas tends to find parents spending like drunken sailors.  So $ for organizers is looking a bit slim.  Still closets need to be overhauled.  Here's one of the things I've been working on to spruce up our front hall closet.
Since all new baskets or bins wasn't in the budget, I grabbed some shoe boxes and covered them up with wrapping paper.  SB's bins all got Seseme Street wrap.  I found the wrap marked down to 3 for $1 at the dollar store.
I left the lids on the bottoms of the boxes, so that I could reuse the boxes with the lids some time in the future if these get replaced with baskets.
The boxes were wrapped like presents on the bottom.
I pushed the wrap into the open top and taped it down.
I finished the boxes up with labels from my p-touch label maker.

Thanks for popping in and checking out my quick & thrifty organizing makeover.  Watch for more updates as I give this closet an overhaul in the upcoming week.  I'm linking this up to Coastal Charm's Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays, and Little Eme's Tute Your Own Tuesdays.

  5. I am impressed that you covered them. Most people wouldn't go through the prettifying factor. I love it.
