I'll be Dipped

I shared my slipcover I made for my Mullet Style Wingback Chair a couple of days ago, and posed the question of whether or not I should paint or stain the legs.  Kelly at JAX does design suggested that I paint the bottom couple of inches gold to tie into the brass buttons.  I loved the idea.  Right away I started thinking about all the cool dipped furniture legs I'd seen recently.

Cassie at Primitive & Proper recently made over those ubiquitous 2 tiered tables that you find on Craigslist all the time.  Very chic!

Jenny at Little Green Notebook wrote a whole post about them featuring these chairs seen in Better Homes & Garden,

and this fantastic campaign table via Design Sponge.

And Everything LEB showed off these fun gold tipped legs on a hall table.

This was a fairly easy project because I didn't need to run out and buy anything.  I had some gold paint leftover from a princess treasure chest I made for a friend's daughter a couple of years ago.

I taped off the legs.

And painted them.

After pulling off the tape, I was done.  Here's a reminder of the before.

And the after.  She's just a little saucier.  I thought I'd give you another shot of her back since so many readers loved the corset detailing.

Thanks for popping in and painting with me.

  3. Seriously, I've heard of dipping, but this isn't what I had in mind:) Loving the gold, now I'm going to be dreaming about what can I dip. Hmm I wonder how my hubs would feel if I tried it out on him? Just kidding, great idea!
