When I Grow Up...

...or when my blog grows up to be more specific.  I started writing this blog as a way to document all the stuff that I do.  We don't live near family, and it's nice for them to be able to check in online and see what changes we've made to our home.  It's also nice to be able to have actual documentation that I'm not just sitting in front of Oprah eating bonbons all day.  Before I started writing this blog, there may have been some question as to what exactly I do all day as a SAHM.  So the question is, how do I want my blog to grow?

Like a Weed.  I'd love for it to just grow without all the planting, and feeding, and watering.  But I know that that's not how things work.  So here are my small goals for my blog.

1.  Make it more user friendly and keep my pages updated.  If you check out my tabs at the top, I haven't updated them in quite some time.  I need to take a couple of days and relabel all my posts and make sure that my tabbed pages have been updated.

2.  Finally get a home tour page up.  I've shown you snippets of my house in various posts, but never full room tours.  I snapped some pics of my soapstone counters to share at the GardenWeb Kitchen forum, and I realize that I've never given you the full tour of the kitchen that I spend so much time in.

3.  I'd love for my blog to have enough of a presence so that when I finally get my butt to a blog conference, I'm approached by a stranger(just 1 would make me over the moon happy,) who says, "ohmygosh, I love your blog."

Thanks for popping in and growing with me.

  1. Sounds like a plan! I would love to feature your home tour on my blog. We are looking at Spring time..like end of April, if you are interested.

  2. Those are all great goals - and if I ever meet you at a blog conference I will definitely be the one to say "Oh my gosh I love your blog!"

  3. Oh, I'll "o my gosh" you! Like a weed ... love that! Wouldn't that just be wonderful? Just post a post and walk away. And check your stats and 10,000 have read it?

A girl can dream, can't she?

Thank you so much for sharing your goals with us!

    :)

... and thanks for the guilt-inducing reminder that my page tabs have not been updated in ages!

  4. You don't need to change a thing because, OH MY GOSH I love your blog (already!)
    He he!

But I understand what you mean about wanting to do different things. It's fun to change it up and make things new and share different things. By the way, I think going to a blog conference would be SO MUCH FUN! I wish they'd have one here in Vegas.

    Have a great weekend!

  5. I could NOT join this challenge, because I had absolutely NO answers as to what I wanted my blog to be when it grows up! I wondered if that indicated a problem with lack of focus and direction...

  6. I would definitely give you an Oh my gosh shout out! Don't we wish blogging was that easy - it takes work but if you love it, it isn't really work after all! So glad you joined our party.

  7. First something you'll find funny {I hope} ... my hubby and I were walking the other day and some kids went running past {being lead by a girl} and several other girls {who carried tools, and 1 had a caulk gun} and 1 boy. The girls started directing the boy about which sticks needed to be gathered and carried to, who knows where, while the girl with the caulk gun stood there clearly calculating what the next step was. Hubby says "so that's where it all starts, you girls like to arrange the pile of sticks, glue them together, and maybe stick a bow on it, but we boys, we just like to throw sticks". Somehow your blog name made me think of this ... Found you through the blog hop and anyone who cooks GF gets a big yes on my list ... I'm now Following through Google Friends. I'm a foodie, don't <> GF but often find those ingredients to appeal more.

And my blog does DIY decor but I don't have a house tour up yet and now I'm thinking my posts are spastic so I'm adding another "to do" to my blog list ;) Love those soapstone counters by the way.

  10. Oh my goodness, I couldn't have said it better myself! Looking forward to the home tour...and more kitchen details.

Too bad Oprah's done, I would have totally shared an episode and some bon bons with you! :)
