Still Here

It's been a completely insane week, and I'm just now coming up for air.  I plan on spending the next day or so getting caught up with all my blogland friends, because I miss reading about what you've all been up to.  CG got sick last week and that turned into pneumonia so he has 2 inhalers, codeine syrup, and an antibiotic. Through a crazy set of circumstances, he also went down to NYC to film a commercial.  Here's a production still from the shoot.

Before all this went down, we had our Halloween parties in the works.  We set the kids party for Sunday, an adult party for the night before, and I'm SB's classroom coordinator so I also had the fall party to plan for school.  The parties were a huge success.
The teenaged "Fortune Teller" did an amazing job.  In fact all my teen helpers were incredible.

But that meant that I had to decorate the entire house with CG largely out of commission, and host 35 6&7 yr olds for an evening, and handle the logistics of Halloween night Trick or Treating & candy handouts, with him out of town.  Needless to say there was lots of decorating & crafting,
Frankenstein pinata took several days to make with layer after layer of paper mache.

cooking & baking,
Orange macaroons with ganache filling rolled in black sugar.

and nary a moment to sit down.  There were volunteer obligations and ball games to go to and the surprise snowfall didn't stop any of that.
Blurry camera phone pic.  I think my whole body was shaking from the cold. SB playing goalie.

I had every intention of sharing the run up to Halloween with craft tutorials and several recipes with you like for these Jack o' Lantern Linzer cookies, but I wasn't real consistent with the camera and the computer has been a stranger to me.  I should be back to my regular posting now that the house is getting back to normal.

Thanks for popping in and checking out my week.

  3. I feel exactly the same way! Life has been so crazy for us the past couple weeks, and I haven't posted in a while, too. It's hard to miss out on blog friends and everything that's going on. Glad to see you're back and getting to "relax" a little. :)
