My Christmas Home Tour

You'd think with all of the recent cookie posts, I've been locked away in the kitchen - not that it'd be a bad thing.  I love my kitchen.  Still it'd be sad if i never left it because I'd have never been able to decorate my home for Christmas and I do love some Christmas bling.

So far I've shared my tree,

my mantel,

and a couple of tabletop vignettes.

Let's tour some of the other touches of Christmas cheer around my home.
Let's start at the front door.  I love these double runner skates.  They belonged to my SIL, then WD, then SB, and now they're too small for anyone.  Ignore the ugly intercom thingy.  I don't have any idea what to do with it.
And here's the wreath on my front door.
Inside the door in my tiny foyer, I have this 3x5 rug which I like to keep out all winter.  The pretty marble tile that I installed when we first moved in gets very slippery when wet, so a rug is a must when you're slopping around in snow.
Our great room has glittered snowflakes hanging off of fishing line.  CG and the kids made these.
I have simple silver glass ball ornaments hung from lengths of ribbon in the front window.  Taking this picture gave me fits.  I took several completely overexposed pictures with the light streaming in the window, before I remembered a tip the Nester had given a little while ago.  She said that she always focuses the camera on something else in the room and then just crops out everything but the window.
I like to place a little greenery on absolutely everything.
Even the samurai swords got a little festooning.
Every door gets a jingle bell,
and every piece of molding is draped with something like these brass horns that I just adore.

Speaking of music, our piano is home to our Christmas village this year.  I've placed it on the Dining Room sideboard in years past, but like it on top of the piano.  The little villagers are less likely to be played with and broken on top of the piano.
As far as all those cookies go, they have a Christmas home too.
Thanks for popping in for my Christmas Home Tour.  I'm linking this up to The Nester's Christmas Tour of Homes, Little Red House's Mosaic Monday, No Minimalist Here's Christmas Decor Party, Hooked on Houses' Holiday Homes Tour, and Kelly's Korner's Christmas Tour of Homes.

  5. thanks for the tour of your lovely home! I got all nostalgic at your comment about the little village figures being safer on the piano --- it's been a long time since I've had to consider that, but I remember it very well! Those are the best Christmas years.

Love the ornaments in the picture window. And thanks for passing on the tip for getting the window photographed!
    Have a lovely, merry Christmas!

  6. Thanks for all of the compliments, everyone! This is the first year that I've hung ornaments in the front window and really like them there. In the past I've hung some in my back window in the Dining Room, but I've been keeping the drapes drawn, because our backyard is a bit of a mess from regrading the lawn.

Cass, I'm glad you can use the photography tip! One of the great things about blogland is the sharing of ideas.

  7. It's been fun looking at all your decorating. I love the ice skates--such a neat idea. Also the ornaments in the window. What a neat tip about taking "window" pictures. I always have a problem with it--now I know what to do.

  8. You are SO much more motivated than I am with your Christmas decorating! I like the idea of hanging the snowflakes from fishing line so it looks like they're floating. My other favorites are the ornaments in the window and the photo wreath!
